Deliberate Love

There is a common belief, especially among certain religious groups, that we are all born evil, or “with sin”. They believe we spend our lives trying to correct this intrinsic malady and many are so consumed with this task that they become blinded to the beauty we were created to experience and appreciate.

However, this connotes that the same God that created the Bird of Paradise, Aurora Borealis, the human body and love either intentionally created us as evil beings, or completely failed in our creation.

I believe we were all created with a propensity towards love and evil. We choose which to foster, every second of our lives. Our surroundings certainly effect what is fostered in our souls, but we always have a choice as to how we react to those experiences.

People often proclaim, “People don’t change”. I believe we are changing all the time. I believe a killer can become a lover, and visa versa, depending on what trait is fostered. We are equipped, mentally, physically and emotionally to choose love over evil.

However, I also believe the act of love must be deliberate, as where it is more common to unintentionally, or even subconsciously fall into evil. We can choose to swim up stream and experience love and happiness, or we can freely flow down into evil; what many would refer to as hell (on earth).

Love is a gift, and a choice. When acted out, it is the essence of beauty. The more life I experience, the more I am inclined to focus my thoughts and actions solely on experiencing, creating and fostering love. Everything else right and good seems to organically proliferate from there.

Oh my…………From his lips to your ears………..This is so, so true Jared and you said it eloquently. I have little patience with people anymore who continually see “the enemy” around every corner and they are continually fighting “spiritual battles”………..I, too am on a quest to find love around every corner and to foster it in every relationship and encounter in my day. I don’t deny there is evil in this world……..and in many people……..I too am capable of screwing up but I assure you it is unintentional and I am NOT evil by nature. Keep writing, Son………….You are a Child of the KING and He made you into one spectacular voice that can change the world. I love you and am proud of you!

the word says the greatest of these is love. as love and people and stuations mature – love will not seem to be so deliberate – lt will flow from within as a gentle yet powerful stream. it will roll over the rocks and hardly notice them at all.

Right on. I often meet people who literally say, “I am selfish, dishonest, and a sinner”. I think to myself, “dude, you don’t have to be”. I can’t see the advantage of putting myself down. At times I may be selfish, but does that make my whole being selfish?
When I changed my choices, my life changed. Hopefully I will choose to learn to be more deliberate in love each day.
    Thanks for your blog!

I agree Mattie. The more I choose to love deliberately, the more it flows naturally. I know I am a person that has a lot of love to give, and a lot flows out of me naturally. However, I still believe there are times when we must be deliberate about it, especially when it’s not easy or when it involves forgiving someone that has harmed us or someone we love.

Thank’s mother. Much of my loving nature came from you, as you know. I’m learning a lot lately, and trying to listen more. I’m realizing the power love has, and how it so often is not my first reaction. I want to change that and foster more love in my life and those I encounter.
